Grading Policy
Practice makes perfect! Practice helps us learn!
In Third Grade grades are based on a point system. Students can earn points by
completing homework assignments, quizzes, tests, and participating in classroom
activities and assignments.
Most homework is graded based on completion. This allows students to take they need to learn and practice without it affecting their grades.Assignments will be corrected, letting the student know what what he or she got correct and what he or she may need to work harder on, but students will still receive full credit unless noted. Homework scores account for 20% of a student's total grade. Now that we are in the second semester and we are learning how to be fourth graders, missing assignments that are more than two weeks late will not be able to earn more than half credit.
Quizzes are a time to quickly check students understanding. Students will
receive points for every question that he or she answers correctly. Quiz scores
account for 25% of a student's total grade.
Tests are to check a students understanding in more detail. Points are awarded
for correct answers. Test scores account for 45% of a student's total grade.
Students also take part in many activities throughout the day. Students will
receive points for some of these activities. Participation accounts for 10% of
a student's total grade.
There are subjects that have different grade weights. In Language Arts, writing assignments take the place of quizzes. Handwriting is a separate category.
