The Principal Thing
The kids have to be excited. After a week off from school, they get to return to the classrooms. I bet some of you smile or maybe even giggle to think that kids are anxious to get back to school, but our goal is to make it true.
Think about God’s word in Ecclesiastes 11:9 ~

Be happy, young man; while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. |
The children at OSL have every reason to be happy. They have been planted in a place where teachers provide guidance and help them to develop knowledge and wisdom. Those who care for them have brought them to a place where they can encounter Christ every day. All around them God has collected people that He cares about and who care for each other.
Our kids will have rough days. They will be pushed, challenged and perhaps even dragged across the finish line. Sadness, anger and fatigue will make the journey seem long and tiring, but the light of God and His promise gives us an ever-present reason to smile.
Christians have been called to live in this world, but not become a part of the world. Our kids are preparing for a tough, uncertain future but they are also preparing for an eternity of peace and joy. This is a place where each person is challenged to be Christ-like and, despite the fact that we fall short, God blesses our efforts. And the blessing of God makes this a great place to live and to learn.
I can’t hide my excitement at the prospect that soon we will be back on track. We are set for the last half of a year that has been full of excitement and change. I can’t wait for tomorrow because I know that God has good things in store for the people of OSL.
Ready! Let’s get going again.
Accreditation
We are nearing the end of our push to complete our self study and submit our report to the visiting committee in May. We are at the point where we need to begin writing goals for the future of our school. On March 9th at 6:30 we will begin a goal writing process for five distinctive action areas.
Agape, the area of relationships rooted in and for the glory of our Lord.
Academics, we are a school and a good one; we want our kids to be prepared for a lifetime of learning.
Arts, our students’ lives are enriched when they develop their creativity and have an appreciation of the beauty people have created across the ages.
Athletics, learning and growing because of the relationships formed in competition, and
Activities, social and emotional growth comes as our students are provided with opportunities to work with others and stretch their knowledge through guided experiences.
If you believe we need a shared vision of the successful OSL student, you can have a great impact on this goal-setting process. Let us know that you want to be a part of the future of OSL.
