The library has been a busy place this year.  I receive reports from BOCES on the teacher and student use of our library so far this year and I want to pass along the very good news! Our children have searched for books using the BOCES School Library System over 6000 times at the beginning of this quarter.  Teachers have used the system a little over 300 times during this same time period and I just got a teacher's request to search for and request 2 more books. This has resulted in borrowing books from schools all around the Capital District. But wait, there's more!

The boys have found and requested more books to read from member schools than the girls.Who says boys don't read?  They just need to find the right book. One little statistic, students that use libraries score 10%-20% higher on standardized tests than students that do no use libraries.

The 3 Apple Book Award finalists have been handed out. Those students that voted in the fall have received the list of books that were chosen.  Those students continuing in the contest must read 3 books from the list and write a very brief book review.  There will be a celebration for those finishing the contest in June.  The book reviews are due June 4.  If  the list of books gets lost or you would like to see the book lists of all three categories go to nominees for 3apples book award, scroll down for the lists.
