My Story
I have been involved in Christian Education for 34 years. I have taught 2nd-8th grades. I have also been an elementary principal, a headmaster and a recruiter of teachers for international Christian schools.
Sandy and I have been married for 39 years. We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Teaching is my passion and developing a relationship with my students is very important to me. I love working hand in hand with the parents; together we can realize their child's needs. For 34 years I have witnessed the beauty of the individualism of each child. Praise the Lord.
My Philosophy
All children should be given a chance to learn in their own style. The Bible is the center of all knowledge. Every part of the curriculum should be integrated with the truths of the Bible. All truth is God's truth.
My Favorite Bible Verse
Philippians 4:19 KJV My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
My History
- B.S. Elementary Education - State University of New York at Fredonia
- M.S. Remedial Reading - State University of New York in Albany
- Christian Educator since 1976
- Teacher at Our Savior's Lutheran School since 2002
I began teaching at Schenectady Christian School in 1976. This was the beginning year for Schenectady Christian and I was one of the first teachers. I stayed at SCS for 16 years. I taught many different elementary grades, as well as music and 11th grade Bible. I was also the Elementary Principal for 5 years.
In January of 1992, Sandy and I were invited to start a new Christian school in Troy and spent the next two years organizing Oakwood Christian School. Sandy was the Office Manager and I was the principal.
After our two years at Oakwood Christian, Sandy and I were called to serve in Bangkok, Thailand with the Network of International Christian Schools. First Presbyterian Church, our home church, gave us their blessing and off we went. The first year I taught 5th grade. The second year I organized a remedial reading program for the ESL student. The third year I was ask to fill the position of Headmaster. This was my greatest challenge and my greatest blessing (For working anyway).
After 5 years, my diabetes was out of control. I needed to get an insulin pump which they didn't have yet in Thailand. So, Sandy and I moved to Memphis, Tennessee where I was hired to recruit teachers for the various international schools in our organization. Sandy worked in missions headquarters as Business Manager.
The second year in Memphis, I was hired to teach 6th grade at a large Christian School in Southaven, Mississippi (1200 students).
The following year, Sandy and I moved to California to help establish a stateside International School in Pasadena.
The following year we packed up again and returned to Schenectady. I was hired as the 6th grade teacher at Our Savior's. Here I am now and will remain (I hope) until I retire.
I have many stories about my adventures in Thailand. Connect with me sometime if you are interested. I am passionate about missions and love to talk with people that share my passion.
