Happy New Year!!
Welcome back! It was so good to see all the children yesterday. We also had two new students join our class. I would like to welcome Hannah and Cyrus and their families. We are so happy you have become part of our class!
This short week is a lot of getting back into our school routines and teaching those routines to our new friends.
Our Bible story for this week is the visit of the wisemen to the baby Jesus. The children were surprised to learn that Jesus was about 2 years old when they came, and we do not know for sure how many wisemen there were. The Bible does not tell us that. We usually think of three men due to the three gifts.
In phonics we are reviewing our letters and sounds and moving on to more sight words and more reading.
For math we got to experience and use geoboards. Ask your child about this.
We will be wrapping up our science unit on the five senses in the next week or so. It was fun watching the children identifying smells in jars. They were pretty good at it!
I will let everyone know if/when we will need snow clothes. At this point we do not have much time to spare to go out.
Also, with this snow and winter, be on the look out for school closings in bad weather. Our school follows South Colonie. If there is a two hour delay, the half day kindergarten class is canceled, but the full day children may come in at 10:30AM.
Have a great week and welcome back again!
