My Story
I have enjoyed designing curriculum for, and teaching Spanish to 5th-
8th graders at Our Savior's for the past 10 years. This year, I will be
teaching only 5th and 6th grade, and thankful to be able to return part time
after a brief maternity leave.
My Philosophy
While the curriculum is designed to prepare students for high school Spanish 2, my hope is for my students to have fun learning Spanish and to be able to use it to communicate in real life situations.
Communication is not a passive thing. Language is best learned by using it. It is for this reason that all students in my classes are encouraged and required to actively participate in class activities. This often involves speaking, listening for understanding, singing, dancing, drawing, creating, and acting out conversations , stories and dramas during class time.
I think that learning a foreign language and then finding opportunity to use it, is ONE way to show God's love to someone who needs to be heard, helped, understood, or ministered to in a way that he or she can receive.
My Favorite Bible Verse
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy way acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path. (Proverbs)
