My Story
I grew up on a small dairy farm in South Eastern Michigan. I think that is where my love for gardening and the outdoors came from. My mother loved music so I grew up hearing world class orchestras, the Metropolitan Opera, and music of the church. Piano lessons were started when I was 7 and organ lessons when I was about 15. As far as I was concerned the arts were the most important part of high school and college. I had the opportunity to attend Concordia University in Chicago. I was encouraged to become a teacher in the Lutheran Church by my father. My mother instilled in me a love for learning. Because of my parents and the church I have always known that the Lord had a plan for my life. I have had the opportunity to teach in different states, different grade levels, and to be blessed by God's people in each of those situations. As I look back I see how faithful God is to His promises to me. So, here I am in a position that is new to me, waiting to see how the Lord works this out and enjoying the process, mostly.
My Philosophy
I believe that asking questions and having the skills to find answers is the heart of education. I believe that when the answer to a question is found, a new question comes which will take the student deeper into understanding the topic. Library skills are one of the important tools we teach our children to use. The library is a place to explore our world and our fancies.
My Favorite Bible Verse
Philippians 4: 8 ........Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
