My Story

My story is a long and often complicated one.  I grew up with 2 parents, 14 siblings: 7 brothers and 7 sisters, 2 grandmothers and 2 grandfathers.  As you can imagine, life was not simple.  My mom was a stay at home mom and my dad worked three jobs.  As we grew up and came of age, my family grew with the addition of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.  I became a wife to my husband, Jeff, and a mother of two boys: Owen and Patrick and am now also a grandmother of two granddaughters, Rayne and Hailey, and a grandson, Aidan.  I have lived in 12 different residences in 7 different cities or towns.  I have worked many jobs around my family and children and have been at Our Savior’s Lutheran School as the first grade teacher since September of 2001.  My life seems to have been a long and winding road but I know that God has guided me all along the way, whether I knew it or not.  My life experiences have equipped me for the place God has me now.  My love of children and education began with my large family and my parents and grandparents who were all teachers but one.  I am blessed by teaching in a school where people love the Lord and where I can spread the good news of Christ to my students.

My Philosophy

I need grace to make it.  I believe that this is one of God's greatest gifts. The Greek word for grace is charis which literally means "that which affords joy, pleasure, sweetness, charm, loveliness".  Theologian J.I. Packer describes grace this way:

In the New Testament grace means God's love in action towards men who merited the opposite of love.  Grace means God moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to save themselves.  Grace means God sending His only Son to descend into hell on the cross so that we guilty ones might be reconciled to God and received into heaven.  "(God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made righteousness of God in him." (2 Cor. 5:21)

If God so lovingly pours out His grace to me, how then, can I not find joy in sharing this grace with my students.

My Favorite Bible Verse

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."

--  Proverbs 3:5
